The customization process with transparent 3D varnish is carried out by applying a clear polymer to the areas you want to highlight with gloss and texture. These areas must be indicated in your file using the “Finishing” color swatch. The polymer is then cured through drying, resulting in a tactile three-dimensional effect and a visually glossy finish.
If you have chosen to add 3D varnish to your product, here are some tips to maximize the impact of this finish:
- If there are no graphic elements underneath the 3D varnish, the “tone-on-tone” effect will make the varnish less visible, which may not be sufficient to ensure the legibility of text and logos.
- To enhance the 3D varnish finish, apply it over printed elements, keeping in mind that it will be more visible if these elements contrast with the background (for example, dark elements on a light background or light elements on a dark background).
Examples of labels with 3D varnish applied to side floral decorations: without printed graphics underneath (left), with darker printed graphics underneath (center), and with lighter printed graphics underneath (right).
To make the most of this type of finish, apply the 3D varnish to printed graphic elements, and you can be confident of achieving a striking result.
