If your product contains text or lines with special finishing, it is important to ensure they meet the minimum print size requirements indicated in the instructions: line thickness of at least 1 pt and font size of at least 10 pt.
The finishing process involves applying a clear polymer base to the areas marked in your file with the Finishing color sample. If you have selected Gold or Silver Lamination, a gold or silver foil is applied over the clear polymer. If you have chosen 3D Varnish, the polymer is cured to create a three-dimensional effect.
If the text or lines are too small or thin, the polymer may be applied unevenly by the machine (and therefore the gold/silver foil may not adhere properly), resulting in the finished elements being poorly visible on the final product.
In the example below, text with special finishing smaller than 10 pt is not clearly visible on the printed product. However, it is clear how the visibility of text and lines improves as the font size increases.
In the example below, lines with a finishing thickness of 0.5 pt are not clearly visible on the printed product.
Warning: Always ensure that both conditions are met: it is possible, as shown in the example below, for text larger than 10 pt to have stroke thicknesses in its letters smaller than 1 pt. As you can see, this results in poor print quality.
Warning: If the text is reversed out (cut out inside an area with special finishing), increase the font size to 14 pt and the stroke thickness to 2 pt to ensure the text remains legible (the polymer used in the finishing process naturally tends to expand by a few tenths of a millimeter when applied to the paper surface).
If your product contains text or lines with special finishing, always ensure that both conditions are met: line thickness of at least 1 pt and font size of at least 10 pt.
